Debra Franses ( 1967) b. London was raised in a Jewish community by an art teacher and an international handbag fittings agent. Debra, convinced by the age of 6 that she would one day become a famous artist, was exposed to a unique outlook on art and fashion from a young age. The well-healed women of North West London and her extravagant and flamboyant aunties helped her develop her intriguing style. Later as a student at London’s Central Saint Martins, she caught the eyes of the tutors with her whimsical handbag castings. The handbag rapidly became her canvas and the medium to express her unique and intimate style .
